If you want to enjoy a bit of local sport, there are many clubs on the island. Most notably; the AEL, Apollonas and Aris. All three clubs compete in the first division of the Cyprus Soccer and Basketball leagues nationally and internationally.

In 2006, the Apollonas' football and AEL's basketball teams succeeded well in the European competitions. To watch a game, tickets are relatively cheap when compared to European leagues. A ticket should cost no more than CYP£10. In addition, the Apollonas Club also has football, basketball and volleyball teams. They have a strong championship record for all three sports. Together, they hold 11 cups since 1966.

The Tsirion Stadium is home for Limassol sport (Olympia Stadium). Not only is it used for football matches, but it also holds concerts. The stadium is the home ground of Apollon Limassol, AEL Limassol and Aris Limassol clubs. When playing a game, Apollon Limassol uses the West Stand of the stadium due to its large capacity but during times of large crowds, the East Stand of the stadium is filled.

The second stadium on the island is the Apollon Stadium. It is renowned for hosting he Southern European Regional Challenge Cup Final Four. In the Cup Final, AEL Limassol beat KK Igokea and became the first team in Cyprus to win a European Trophy.
